25/8/16

I finished sewing the side straps onto the side of the apron. Somehow the leftover fabric for our pockets went missing and so we had to go without pockets. I cleaned up all the extra thread and now my project has finally come to an end.

24/8/16

I sewed on one of the side straps and tried on the apron. I noticed that the side straps were way too low and we had to unpick all of it and sew it again much higher.
23/8/16

We hemmed and sewed on the top strap so that you could tie it around your neck and adjust it. Then we hemmed on the side straps onto the apron.
22/8/16

We used the leftover fabric to make the straps. We cut a piece 9cm wide and folded it twice to make it 3cm. We sewed along the sides of the strap and cut it into 3 straps, one being longer than the others. The longer strap was for the top of the apron.

We folded the fabric in half and put the pattern on top. We measured 3 cm from the pattern so that we have enough room for heming. We used fabric chalk and drew out the aprons shape and cut it out. Then we sewed the hem only on the sides with no straps.

Some of our group went shopping and bought three different designs. One was a mermaid pattern, one was a black and white wood design and one was a pineapple design. We printed off half an apron pattern close to the size of the old aprons from the kitchen. So when we measured the width we had to double the measurement (but not the length).
12/8/16

We decided as a group to survey the whole class to see what they wanted the aprons to look like. We looked on the spotlight website for different fabrics that the class would like.
